Last night, my Dad went to the area where the phonecall came from the other day and he knocked a few doors and dropped leaflets. There are a lot of elderly people living in the street and as he went after dark he only got one person answering the door, but she said she hadn’t seen a black/white cat around.
I went there today and spoke to a lady called Edith who the man had said feeds a lot of cats. She said this neighbour who had phoned me had spoken to her this morning again about the cat but she didn’t seem as confident that it was my cat as the man had been. She looked at his photographs and said “now I can’t remember any white on this cat I saw, but I only got a glimpse of him as he shot past my door” her initial thought was that this cat was long and black. She couldn’t remember even seeing a collar, whereas the caller had said quite definitely a red collar and white markings which looked like the advert. I also mentioned to her that the caller had said this ‘stray’ cat had been hanging around the area for up to 2 months, but she looked sceptical and said she hadn’t noticed it before the other day. So no closer really to finding anything out.
Strangely I had a call from my road yesterday too, a woman who thought that a black and white cat going into the flats on my road was mine. I explained that if Billy had made his way back to my road, he’d be home by now, but I thanked her and said I think I knew which cat she had seen and he did live in the flats.
